چکیده

In this paper, we present a characterization, through its convergence analysis, and an optimisation of a joint source-channel receiver composed of a LDPC decoder and a Soft Input Soft Output (SISO) source decoder. Under Gaussian approximation, assuming the knowledge of the extrinsic mutual information transfer function (EXIT chart) of the source decoder, we derive the Mutual Information evolution equations, that semi-analytically describe the convergence of the iterative system behavior and, to complete the study, the stability condition at the convergence fixed point is derived for the joint receiver. From this analysis, a general optimisation method of the irregularity of the LDPC codes is proposed, which can be reduced to a linear programming optimisation problem. Simulation results show improved performance when compared to an AWGN optimized LDPC code. Index Terms LDPC codes, joint source and channel decoding (JSCD), irregularity optimisation.

A LDPC-Coded Distributed Alamouti Space-time Relay Cooperation Scheme over Rayleigh Fading Channels

An efficient distributed Alamouti Space-time coded relay cooperation scheme is proposed over a Rayleigh fading channel, where structured irregular systematic low-densityparity-check (LDPC) codes are employed. In the known channel state information (CSI) scenario, a concatenation of combiner and joint iterative decoder is effectively carried out in the destination. The theoretical analysis and n...

Search Based Weighted Multi-Bit Flipping Algorithm for High-Performance Low-Complexity Decoding of LDPC Codes

In this paper, two new hybrid algorithms are proposed for decoding Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes. Original version of the proposed algorithms named Search Based Weighted Multi Bit Flipping (SWMBF). The main idea of these algorithms is flipping variable multi bits in each iteration, change in which leads to the syndrome vector with least hamming weight. To achieve this, the proposed algo...

Joint physical network coding and LDPC decoding for two way wireless relaying

In this paper, we investigate the joint design of channel and network coding in bidirectional relaying systems and propose a combined low complexity physical network coding and LDPC decoding scheme. For the same LDPC codes employed at both source nodes, we show that the relay can decode the network coded codewords from the superimposed signal received from the BPSK-modulated multiple-access cha...

Decoding LDPC Convolutional Codes on Markov Channels

This paper describes a pipelined iterative technique for joint decoding and channel state estimation of LDPC convolutional codes over Markov channels. Example designs are presented for the Gilbert-Elliott discrete channel model. We also compare the performance and complexity of our algorithm against joint decoding and state estimation of conventional LDPC block codes. Complexity analysis reveal...
